Protecting Our Most Precious Resources
Natural Resources Management – Tellus safeguards our most precious natural and cultural resources through research, planning, stakeholder engagement, developing best practices/SOPs, data collection and management, analysis, reporting, and facilitating the use of innovative technologies such as machine learning/artificial intelligence. Our biologists conduct threatened, endangered, and sensitive species (TES) surveys; invasive species surveys; biological monitoring; construction and project monitoring to ensure protection of species during construction projects and training activities; and climate data collection activities, along with preparing associated reports. Tellus has expertise in determining the effects of a project on the landscape and recommending mitigation measures to offset identified impacts, as well as preparing biological assessments and evaluations in compliance with Section 7 and Habitat Conservation Plans in compliance 10 (a)(1)(A) of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), state, and local requirements.

Cultural Resources Management - Our archaeologists ensure compliance with National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Sections 106 and 110, and conduct training activities, promoting environmental awareness through outreach and education, conducting literature searches, archaeological site inventories and evaluations of eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), and preparing State Historic and Preservations Officers (SHPO) and Native American consultation letters. We also provide specialized staffing support to develop and maintain natural resources, climate databases, collected artifacts, and geographic information system (GIS) data to support resource impact assessments, planning, and management.
Biodiversity, Biosecurity, and Ecosystem Protection – Our seasoned scientists provide programmatic guidance and management of projects that address challenges in protecting and restoring both marine and terrestrial ecosystems. We collaborate with civilian and military agencies, state, local, tribal, and community organizations to identify priority areas and build capacity to respond to threats like invasive species, climate change, pollution, unsustainable economic activities, and habitat destruction. We conduct research in coordination with the world’s foremost subject matter experts to develop regional solutions grounded in proven best practices.
NEPA and CEQA Consultation – We lead the development of environmental and technical reports in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to include scoping, Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, Categorical Exclusions, and Finding of No Significant Impact; Initial Studies, Negative Declarations, and Environmental Impact Reports, along with associated public involvement. We interface with a variety of agencies and conduct timely consultation and coordination with Native American tribes and other impacted communities.
