Who We Are

Our Origin Story

Tellus Civic Science was founded by Hannah Thompson and Adrienne Taylor, an Environmental Scientist and Biologist who had forged a friendship over fifteen years while working together as consultants in the Federal energy and environmental industry. During an emotional discussion in May 2022 about our life pursuits, our personal goals, our collective desire and innate responsibility to create positive change in the world, we realized that we each had a goal of starting a company. As we discussed the details of our dream company, we agreed that we wanted to design from the ground up, a company rooted in diversity, equity, and curated with a team of professionals as passionate as we are about saving our blue planet. With tears in our eyes and smiles upon our faces, we decided to embark on this ecopreneurship together, to build a company of our own, employee-focused, and unapologetically concentrated on saving the planet and with a mission to combat climate change through energy and environmental conservation, restoration, and sustainability consultation.

Upon initial company formation, we set out to build our dream team.  The first person with whom we reached out was Lynda Arakelian.  Both Adrienne and Hannah had worked with Lynda for the majority of their careers and Adrienne and Lynda were college roommates.  We knew that Lynda would complement our team with her passion for doing good for our planet, high technical competency in energy and environmental solutions, and a desire to use technology to help solve complex scientific issues.  Lynda agreed to join Tellus in August of 2022, and we haven’t looked back since.

The Meaning of Tellus

The name of our company reflects our values. Tellus, Earth Mother and Roman goddess of the planet, represents our mission as mothers and scientists to focus on reducing carbon, preserving natural resources, mapping a more sustainable future, and leaving our planet better than we found it for our children, our communities, and our world. “Civic Science” represents the importance of scientists to more fully engage in their role as citizens of their community, region, nation, and planet to address and provide solutions to our planets’ challenges more holistically and from a perspective from within.

Our planet is irreplaceable. Let’s save it!
