Tellus Awarded Contract to Support the U.S. EPA Region 9 and the California State Water Resources Control Board Underground Storage Tank (UST) Program and Leaking UST Program

Tellus Civic Science Corporation (Tellus) is excited to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, San Francisco District to support the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region 9 and the California State Water Resources Control Board Underground Storage Tank (UST) Program and Leaking UST Program. Tellus will support efforts to promote assessment and cleanup actions at sites throughout the State of California where soil and/or groundwater have been impacted by petroleum leaking from USTs. Tellus will engage with state and federal regulators, local agencies, responsible parties, and community stakeholders to develop strategies to facilitate response to contaminated sites and to increase compliance with UST leak prevention regulations at active fueling facilities to minimize the need for future cleanup efforts. Under this contract, Tellus will engage with State Water Board legal teams to support enforcement efforts on recalcitrant UST sites under the California Health and Safety code. Leveraging experience and knowledge of redevelopment funding programs, Tellus will complement legal enforcement efforts by working with responsible parties to strategize economically compelling pathways to successful contaminated site cleanup to reduce blight and help revitalize underinvested communities.
