Tellus Welcomes Environmental Director Michael Harris to its Team
Tellus Civic Science (Tellus) is proud to introduce its new Environmental Director, Michael Harris, PG, who is responsible for overseeing the company’s environmental programs and managing supporting staff. Mr. Harris leads Tellus in providing customized environmental program support for regulatory agencies, and state, local, and federal government partners. With 18 years of experience in the field of environmental and engineering geology, he brings a wealth of technical and supervisory expertise to the Tellus team, which he will apply to multiple service areas, including environmental protection and compliance, resource conservation, carbon reduction, and climate adaptation and mitigation. He is also supporting Tellus’ organic growth and business development of opportunities that align with the company’s capabilities and mission of providing Positive Planet Solutions.
As a licensed professional geologist in California, Mr. Harris has focused his career on groundwater protection and cleanup, geologic hazard analysis, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Quality Act (NEPA) evaluation, and regulatory optimization. He has led efforts to assess and remediate soil and water contamination in California and beyond, as well as implemented projects that have improved environmental compliance efforts through working with local, state, and federal regulators to prevent future releases of hazardous materials to our environment. Mr. Harris is driven by a desire to minimize impacts humans have on our precious water, soil, and air resources and applying his skills to mitigate the harmful impacts we’ve had in the past. He is a natural leader in orchestrating subject matter expertise to collaboratively tackle environmental challenges and implement sustainable, holistic solutions, working seamlessly with local communities, regulators, and other stakeholders. He is excited to dive in to furthering Tellus’ mission and projects that focus on strategies to improve our world and environment, leveraging a diverse range of technical resources and regulatory relationships needed to build a sustainable future.
